Welcome to The Alsedek Theatre School
At our school, students learn far more than how to act. Through theatre, young people build confidence, communication skills, empathy, and a lifelong connection to the arts—skills that serve them well both onstage and off.
Our classes introduce students to a wide range of theatrical styles, taught by professional teaching artists in a supportive, encouraging environment. Whether your child is stepping onto a stage for the very first time or already feels at home performing, we meet them where they are and help them grow at their own pace.
We also believe strongly that every child deserves access to arts education. That’s why we offer financial assistance and scholarships for families who may need support.
Thank you for considering The Alsedek Theatre School. We would be honored to be part of your child’s creative journey.

Why Us
The Alsedek Theatre School is a training program dedicated to developing students' skills, knowledge, and appreciation of the process of acting and the making of theatre.

It's a process.
Students learn by doing, experimenting, and collaborating.

Don and Anne

It's a skill.
Acting builds focus, confidence, teamwork, and self-expression.

It's fun!
Students find a welcoming community in our family of artists at Open Stage.
For over 40 years, The Alsedek Theatre School has been a cornerstone of theatre education in Harrisburg. Our approach focuses on learning, growth, and discovery—not competition or perfection. The school is dedicated to bringing the best of theatre education to the capital city.
The Open Stage Studio/School was started in 1985 by Open Stage founders Donald L. Alsedek, Anne L. Alsedek, and Marianne Fischer, before the theatre company's first full season. Upon Don and Anne's retirement in 2017, the school was renamed in their honor.
